Dec. 25th Prompt: Photo – a present to yourself. Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you. via Tracey Clark.
This photo reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, which I will unfortunately have to misremember as I didn’t bring my copy of The Director’s Voice to Cambodia.
Anywho, the quote was about an actress who threw herself wholly, completely, into her work. She let go of fear of embarrassment or failure, and with exquisite focus showed up. The quote resonated with me when I first read it at 19 and ebbs back into my consciousness often.
It’s the type of person I want to be personally and professionally. Open. Joyful. Focused. Present. Without fear. Unselfconscious. Devoted.
And this photo reminds me I have moments of being that woman. Of being loving & loved, elated & expansive, and confident.
I don’t know who took this photo, but it was from the happy hour I hosted in New York City while I was home last July. The lovely ladies in the photo with me are Chloe, Liz and Natasha.
