#Reverb10: Announcing My Word For 2011

December 20, 2010

Earlier, I wrote about my word for 2010: Shine. The goal was to radiate. To feel my power and trust in my abilities. This year has been about confidence.

I’ve been tossing a few ideas for next year when I read How To Be Devoted: Wishing Won’t Make It Happen, Practice Will. And, my word came to me. Settled into my subconscious and made itself at home.

2011 is about Devotion.

Devotion as dedication.

Follow-through. Profound commitment to my interests. 2011 will be another year of proudly declaring what I want and going for it. Of putting in the hard work and reaping the rewards. Of being earnest and sincere when approaching my passions.

Devotion as practice.

Developing a program or habit. Practice, as in training. As in daily or weekly exercises that lead to a desired outcome. 2011 will be the year of turning I wishes to I can & I dids. So, in 2011 I will develop a regular yoga practice, become more gracious and build my physical strength.

Devotion as attachment.

Loyalty. Affection. Allegiance to that which I’ve already started. Attention to that which I’ve already planted. Last year was about big changes, lots of seeds being dropped. In 2011, I will nurture & settle.

Devotion as worship.

To praying at the alter of the muses and genius. To consecrating the process that allows for creation. To being a vessel that can be of service, through words and actions. To allowing creativity to flow through me. In 2011, I will continue to honor my creative process. I will show up. I will extend the invitation.

Dear reader, have you selected your word for 2011?

Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next.
